Backstory

This design was conceived during a late-night marathon viewing of retrofuturist propaganda films from the mid-20th century, when our lead designer noticed the jarring disconnect between yesterday's bright technological promises and today's complicated reality.

Inspired by Cold War-era industrial aesthetics, Soviet constructivism, and the particular shade of red that appears in both optimistic communist posters and warning signals on failing machinery, the shirt became an immediate cult favorite among our test audience of philosophy majors, computer programmers with ethical concerns, and people who own both vinyl records and digital assistants. The mechanical face represents the duality of human-machine interaction—simultaneously our creation and our potential undoing—while the fading text serves as a reminder that even apocalyptic predictions eventually become mundane present tense.
